Virginia “Dina” Moucka Nemecek, formerly of McAllen, died Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010, at her home in Austin. She was born near Ennis, Texas on Oct. 8, 1918 to Frank and Rose Moucka. She attended school in Ennis and graduated from West High School in West, Texas.
She married Alfred (Fritz) Nemecek on Feb. 15, 1939. After living in Corpus Christi, they moved to McAllen in 1955. She and her husband moved to Kyle, Texas in 1982 and then lived in the Austin area until the time of her passing.
Dina was a faithful member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church and was active in the Altar Society, Mother’s Club and a Study Guild. She was an excellent cook and seamstress having made most of her five daughters’ clothing. She was a quiet woman until you got to know her, and she had a great love of travel.
She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Alfred R. Nemecek; daughters, Dianne (Phillip) Conner of Austin, Freda Thomas of Louisiana, Rosemary (Joe) Roseland of Mission, Karen (Lane) Ply of Alaska, and Nancy (Tim) Dennis of Austin; son, Fred Nemecek of Austin; 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, Nov. 12, at The Church of the Assumption in West. Ric Brown Family Funeral Home of Mission is in charge of local arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the San Juan Diego Catholic Regional High School Project Office, P. O. Box 2347, McAllen, TX, 78502-2347 or the charity of one’s choice.
