MISSION - Victor "Garapata" Garza, Jr., 75, passed away on June 28, 2011, at his residence in Mission.
He was an inspiration to his sons, and loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, and always enjoyed playing a good joke on people.
He is survived by his wife, of 49 years, Olivia Vela Garza of Mission; sons, Victor (Theresa) Garza of Pharr and David (Ronnie) Garza of Mission; grandchildren, Catherine Sophia Garza, Elizabeth Megan Garza, Joanna Lee Garza, Jessica Ann Garza, Jeanette Nicole Garza, and Sarai Danielle Garza; sisters, Frances Garza, Amalia (Lupe) Saldana, and Victoria (Tomas) Pena; and daughter-in-law, Veronica Tijerina.
Mr. Garza was preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Isabel Garza Sr., and a sister Maria Garza.
Visitation will be held today, Thursday, June 30, 2011, from 5-9 pm with a 7 p.m. memorial service at Ric Brown Family Funeral Home Chapel in Mission. Cremation services were held.
