LA JOYA - Guadalupe "Lupita" P. Alaniz, passed away at her home in La Joya on Thursday, July 14, 2011. She was born in Rio Grande City on September 2, 1912 and was raised in Rancherias, Tamps., Mexico.
She is survived by her daughter Cristina Salinas; sons, Juan Manuel and Felix Jr. Alaniz from La Joya; and 10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Felix Alaniz Sr.; parents, Guillermo and Cecilia Perez; brothers, Guillermo Jr. and Eduardo Perez; and sons, Ernesto and Daniel Alaniz.
A funeral mass was held July 18 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Mission. Interment followed at Valley Memorial Gardens in McAllen.
