Big Six Friday Game of the Night: Lady Rattlers face stiff challenge from District 31 champ Harlingen

There is plenty of good news for the Sharyland Lady Rattlers heading into tonight’s game with the Harlingen Lady Cardinals. First, Dale Whitaker’s team will benefit from having home court advantage. Second, the home team is coming off its second straight bi-district win after they beat Laredo Nixon on Monday, 45-43.

Yet, tonight should be nothing less than a battle. Harlingen is coming off a 66-44 whooping of Brownsville Rivera and were the District 31 champs. The Lady Cardinals are led by Biance Martinez and Alexis Martinez.

Sharyland will need a good showing from nearly everyone if they want a shot at an upset. As always, Monica Salinas and Laura Eberly will be key in the paint defensively, on the rebounds and putting the ball in the hole. Clarissa Suarez and Savannah Prichard will look to score from deep, as well as run the fast break.

Tonight’s game begins at 7 p.m.

Thirteen straight, district champs and more to come

“It’s not over yet.”

Those were the words of Sharyland basketball star and team co-captain Quino Pistokache following his team’s regular season finale over McHi on Tuesday night.

Yes, more is to come—including a date with Laredo Nixon next week—but there has been plenty to celebrate already.
