Sharyland wins state championship in shootout

20120423_IMG_0559GEORGETOWN – Hundreds of Sharyland soccer fans made the trip to Georgetown to support their team in the school’s debut appearance at state. This became the trip of a lifetime as they witnessed the most electrifying match of the state tournament as two evenly matched teams battled back and forth for the victors’ crown.

Sharyland Boys Win State Semi-final

20120420-5-of-5GEORGETOWN, TX – While the Mansfield Tigers had a clear height advantage, they were no match for the skillful ball handling of the Sharyland Rattlers in this evening’s State UIL Boys Semi-final Soccer Tournament.

Sharyland Track and Field sweeps 30-5A championship

District champs – again. That accurately describes Sharyland High School’s performance at last weekend’s District 30-5A track and field championships in La Joya. Yes, the Rattlers won – again. Both teams, boys and girls.

Tom Lee’s boys beat out Palmview while Sandy Guerrero’s girls took down Nikki Rowe to give Sharyland their second consecutive district championship.

Churchill defeats Sharyland in regional final

BROWNSVILLE, 14 Apr. - The Sharyland Lady Rattlers were on the brink of making Rio Grande Valley girls soccer history Saturday, but instead fell just short of their goal when they were defeated 1-0 by San Antonio Churchill in the Class 5A Region IV Final at the Brownsville Sports Park.

Despite the loss, the Lady Rattlers became the Valley’s girls team that has come the closest to advancing to the State Tournament with their valiant performance against Churchill in the Regional Final.

Sports Highlights


*The boys golf team took home the Region IV Championship last Tuesday, beating out San Antonio Johnson. The team was led by third-place finisher Juan Rodriguez. Peter Fox came in fifth and Jose Pena finished eighth. The state championships will be held April 30-May 1.

*Standout volleyball player Laura Eberly signed on Wednesday to play volleyball for Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio. Eberly helped the Lady Rattlers win District 30-5A this past Fall and was named the district’s “outstanding blocker”.
