20110408_RoadrunnersEDINBURG -- The Edinburg Roadrunners of the North American League announced today the hiring of Steve Maddock as their new manager for the upcoming 2011 season.

Maddock replaces former manager Vince Moore who had been a part of the organization since 2001.  He played with the Roadrunners from 2001-2004 and managed the Coyotes/Roadrunners from 2005-2010.

Maddock is coming off an assistant coach job with the Fort Worth Cats of the American Association after spending three seasons as manager of the Schuamburg Flyers of the then Northern League.  He had 112 wins during his tenure with the Flyers.

Maddock has a managerial record of 284-373 and brings some hardware with him to Edinburg as he won a Central Baseball League Championship in 2002 with the San Angelo Colts.

The Roadrunners are seeking their first championship since 2004 but have been in the playoffs the past three seasons and even made it to the championship game in 2010.

Maddock also spent eight seasons in independent baseball as a pitcher with his last season coming in 2001 with the Tyler Roughnecks of the All-American Association.  He had a career record of 7-14 with a career ERA of 5.64.

The Edinburg Roadrunners begin their season with an eight-game home stand that starts Wednesday, May 25, against the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings at Edinburg Baseball Stadium.

Season and individual game tickets are still available and can be purchased by calling the front office at 956-380-4446 or by visiting
