Emily Perez of Juarez-Lincoln High School placed seventh in the 3200 meter run this morning at the State UIL Track & Field Championships in Austin. The competition was stiff and despite improving her time to 11:11.47, Perez was unable to place higher than her sixth place finish in the same event at last year's state championships. Last year, Perez's time at state was 11:36.24.
Perez will compete again tonight in the 1600 meter run in the 4A division. Sharyland will have two boys relay teams compete in the 5A division on Saturday.
