EDINBURG—The Edinburg Roadrunners allowed five home runs to the San Angelo Colts in the 11-4 loss on Wednesday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium.
The Colts (36-20) got four runs in the top of the first against Edinburg starter Toro Trevino 4-4). Daryl Jones hit an RBI single that allowed Ronnie Gaines to score. Landon Camp followed with a three-run home run giving San Angelo the 4-0 lead.
C.J. Beatty got the Roadrunners (24-35) on the board with a solo home run, his 11th of the season, in the bottom of the first inning making it 4-1 Colts.
Former Roadrunner Daryl Jones hit a two-run home run in the top of the second extending San Angelo’s lead 6-1.
In the bottom of the fourth, Wellington Dotel hit a one-out double to left center field and then came into score on an RBI single by Osiel Flores. Robert Matlock then followed with an RBI triple that allowed Flores to score from second. Gabe Memmert then hit an RBI single to right field that allowed Matlock to score which made it 6-4 San Angelo.
The Colts got three runs in the top of the seventh on a couple of home runs. Landon Camp hit a solo home run to lead off the inning and then Danny Hernandez hit a two run shot that extended their lead 9-4.
Jones hit his second home run of the game, this time a solo home run, in top of the eighth. An RBI single by Gaines in the top of the ninth pushed the Colts lead 11-4.
Cory Patton then pitched a scoreless ninth giving San Angelo the 11-4 victory.
Adam Kramer (2-1) picked up the win after allowing four runs in seven innings and striking out three.
The Roadrunners and Colts will play the third game of their four-game series Thursday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium. Aaron Guerra (4-5) is expected to start for Edinburg with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
