OBIT-Reinaldo Roberto Cantu

Reinaldo Roberto “Bobby” Cantu, 62, of McAllen, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2013.

Mr. Cantu was born on Aug. 5, 1951 to Raul Acosta Cantu and Rafaela Cantu of Pharr. He graduated from PSJA High School in 1971, where he excelled in all sports. In 1975, he graduated from the University of Texas-Pan American with a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology and health. Last May, he retired after over 20 years in coaching and education with the Sharyland ISD.

Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Gloria Treviño Cantu; children, Letty, Laura and Robert; brothers, Jacob and David; sister, Clara; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, Isauro and Carlota Cantu.

A funeral service was held at Our Lady of Guadalupe in Helotes on Dec. 30. Interment was held at Resurrection Cemetery at Cordi-Marian.
