OBIT-Mary Kathleen Jensen

Mary Kathleen Jensen passed away at home in Mission, Tex. with family members by her side on Thursday, January 2, 2014. She was 71 years old.

Mary was born on September 1, 1942 in Thief River Falls, Minn. to Robert and Bernice Looker. She was a 1960 graduate of Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls.

Mary worked at Northern State Bank in Thief River Falls for one-and-a-half years. Mary continued her education at Bemidji State University for two years until illness forced her to leave. She then attended Aacker’s Business College in Grand Forks, N.D. and graduated with a business degree in 1966. Mary moved to Seattle, Wash. and was in the accounting department at DoAll Northwest Co. and Carroll Mortgage Co. Before retiring in 1994, Mary worked at First Interstate Bank of Washington for 25 years where the last 13 years she was an Internal Control and Operations Support Officer, Real Estate Services.

Mary married Earl Jensen on August 14, 1987 in Beaverton, Oregon. Mary and Earl moved to the Rio Grande Valley in 1995 and became residents of Enchanted Valley Ranch retirement community. Mary worked 
part time at Martin Valley Ranch Golf Course from 1998 until 2011. Earl passed away on February 22, 2002.

Mary enjoyed traveling and she was able to see the sights of Germany, Baltic and Mediterranean cruises, Australia, and New Zealand, plus various places across the United States.

Survivors include her mother, Mrs. Bernice Locker of Thief River Falls; sisters, Susan (Jim) Engelstad of Fargo, N.D., Roberts Looker and Ruth Olson, both of Thief River Falls, and Nancy (Paul) Boerboom of Hartford, S.D.; two brothers, Jon (Junell) Looker and Mike (Karen) Looker of Thief River Falls; and many nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Jensen; her father, Robert Looker; and her aunt, Norma Jean Looker.

No local services were planned. Arrangements were under the direction of Ric Brown Family Funeral Home.
