OBIT-Socorro C. Venegas

MISSION – Socorro C. Venegas, 77, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014, at McAllen Heart Hospital.

Mrs. Venegas worked for Kmart in McAllen for over 28 years. After her retirement, she volunteered to be an election judge for both county and school elections.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Pablo Pena; second husband. Librado Venegas Sr.; parents Marcelo and Juanita Cedillo; and siblings, Adelia Cedillo and Arnulfo Cedillo.

Survivors include her children, Paul Pena of Weslaco, Jose Manuel Pena of Edinburg, Marco Antonio Pena of Mission, Maria del Socorro Martinez of San Juan, Maria Yolanda Santana of Mission, Librado Venegas Jr. of Mission, Roberto Venegas of Mission, Casimiro Venegas of Mission and Juan Luis Venegas of La Joya; siblings, Marcelo Cedillo Jr., Homero Cedillo, Onesimo Cedillo and Azucena Cedillo; and 22 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, Jan. 23, from 1 to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. rosary at Ric Brown Family Funeral Home in Mission. The funeral mass will be held on Friday, Jan. 24, at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Mission. Burial will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery in McAllen.
