OBIT-Joaquin Cerda

PALMVIEW – Joaquin Cerda, 68, passed away on Saturday, March 15, 2014, at Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen.

He was born to Benigno Cerda Sr. and Rebecca Cardona in Mission on Oct. 1, 1945.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Cerda, and sisters, Esperanza C. Peña and Josefina Rivera.

Survivors include his son, David Cerda of Edinburg; daughters, Patricia Martinez of Dallas, Amy Cerda of La Joya; siblings, Benigno Cerda Jr., Raquel Cerda, Frank Cerda and Lucy C. Longoria; and six grandchildren. V

Visitation will be held on Monday, March 17, from 2 to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. rosary at Flores Funeral Home in Mission. The funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, March 18, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church in La Joya. Interment will follow at Lord & I Cemetery in Palmview.
