OBIT-Hector Hernandez

MISSION – Hector “Tito” Hernandez, 63, passed away on Saturday, March 15, 2014.

Mr. Hernandez was a 23 year veteran of the U.S. Navy and employed by Rio Grande Regional Hospital for 30 years.

Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Elvia Rodriguez Hernandez; daughters, Angelica Benavidez and Jasmine Hernandez; son, Hector Hernandez; mother, Esperanza C. Hernandez de Garcia; sisters, Noemi Regina Luevano and Belinda Garcia; brothers, Jose Maria Garcia, Daniel Javier Garcia and Corando Garcia; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Alicia Berta Gonzalez and Maria Andrea Garza.

Visitation will be held on March 18 and 19 from 2 to 9 p.m. with 7 p.m. rosaries at Ric Brown Family Funeral Home in Mission. The funeral mass will be held on Thursday, March 20, at 12:30 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Mission. Burial will follow at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to his favorite charities, Easter Seals RGV or Mujeres Unidas.
