The group focuses on post-treatment survivor’s self-image. Meyhofer said she was feeling wonderful and very blessed.
“I am a three-time cancer survivor,” Meyhofer said. “I got sick the first time in 2002 with ovarian cancer. That was devastating for my family, my husband and me. My faith just carried me through it.”
Meyhofer said the $20,000 donated by H-E-B would help many people in the area through research to find a cure.
Mia’s Mirror, whose name borrows the Italian word for “my” is designed to offer women an “escape” where they can treat themselves to fun and inexpensive accessories. Price ranges for the accessories and other products range from $8 – $30.
Bill Anderson, H-E-B Group vice president of general merchandise, beauty and services, explained the company opened its first store in San Antonio and customers immediately fell in love with it.
“It’s really an ideal place for our female customers to escape the weekly shopping trip,” Anderson said. “I think it embodies the spirit of H-E-B. We are an innovative company, a company that allows our partners to come up with new creative ideas and then run with them.”
Anderson said each week new products could be found in the store. He added items are purchased in small quantities to keep products fresh and different with each passing season.
