Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office made an arrest in a shooting in Peñitas over the weekend, according to a news release.
Before midnight Saturday, deputies responded to a home in the 160000 block of Date Palm Drive in rural Peñitas. There, they found 32-year-old Raul Garza with a gunshot wound in his chest. He was airlifted to a local hospital, but later died.
Deputies believe the shooting occurred when an argument got heated between Garza and 38-year-old Rodolfo Saenz, states the news release. A criminal complaint states Saenz confessed to the shooting.
Saenz has been charged with murder and was taken to Hidalgo County jail on a $1.75 million bond.
