OBIT-Lydia Gonzales

ALTON – Lydia Gonzales, 85, passed away on Monday, March 2, 2015, in McAllen.

She was born on March 16, 1929 in York Town to Liborio and Eduvijes Garcia. Her stepmother was Josefina Garcia.

Survivors include her children, Thomas Gonzales, Henry Gonzales, Manuel Gonzales, Daniel Gonzales, Rosa Lemus, Teresa Valencia, Diane Rodriguez, Rodolfo Gonzales, Geronimo Gonzales and Ricardo Gonzales; siblings, Hortencia Meza, Guadalupe Mungia, Juanita Molina, Liborio Garcia, Eluterio Garcia, Guadalupe Garcia, Jose Garcia, Horacio Garcia and Abel Garcia; and 24 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Gonzales; sisters, Amelia Garcia and Virginia Chavarria; and brother, Juan Garcia.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 5, from 1 to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. rosary at 7 p.m. at Funeraria Del Angel in Mission. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, March 6, at 10 a.m. at St. John of the Fields Catholic Church in Mission. Interment will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens in Mission.
