OBIT – Apolonio ‘Polo’ Contreras

MISSION – Apolonio “Polo” Contreras, 64, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2015, in Chicago, Ill.

Survivors include his daughter, Melissa C. Rushefski of San Antonio; sons, Michael Contreras of San Antonio and Apolonio Contreras Jr. of McAllen; siblings, Antonia Anzaldua of Chicago Heights, Ill., Olga Gonzalez of McAllen, Gloria Contreras of Mission, Alicia Solis of Laredo, Ruben of Hereford, Corina Skidmore of Mission and Criselda Venegas of Mission; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Refugio and Elva Contreras; and brothers, Rene and Richard Contreras.

A funeral mass was held on Nov. 2 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Mission with Rev. Roy Snipes, OMI, officiating. Burial followed at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Mission.
