Peñitas police search for hit and run driver

Peñitas, TX—Peñitas Police are searching for the driver of a dark green Jeep Commander that was involved in a hit-and-run accident on Saturday, August 27 at approximately 7:54 p.m. on the 1700 block of Pino Street.

According to the Penitas Police Department, the driver of the Jeep Commander was traveling west bound and lost control of the vehicle, veering off the roadway and striking a 10-year-old child, causing bodily injury. The child was flown to San Antonio for surgery, and is currently in stable condition.

City of Penitas logoAfter the accident, witnesses reported seeing the driver fleeing the scene and traveling southbound on Tom Gill Road towards Expressway 83.

Vehicle Description: Tinted windows, chrome trim on exterior of vehicle, Rear right tire is missing a hub cap and is a spare tire (different from the other three “original” tires on the vehicle).

The incident remains under investigation and no further information was available at press time.
