MISSION – Octavia G. “Tavita” Pons, 86, passed away on Saturday, April 8, 2017, at Seasons Hospice in Naperville, Il..

Born in Mercedes, she lived in Mission most of her life and was a seamstress.

Survivors include her children, Melinda Harold of Aurora, Ill., Orlando Pons of Irvine, Calif., Lizbeth Lugo of Mission; brother, Robert Garza of Houston; and three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Pedro Luis Pons; parents, Roberto and Hortencia Garza; and siblings, Hortencia Garza and Raul Garza.

A funeral service was held on April 14 at Memorial Funeral Home. Burial followed at Restlawn Memorial Park in La Feria.
