OBIT – Criselda Ramirez

MISSION – Criselda “Chela” T. Ramirez (Ortiz), 85, passed away on Thursday, May 25, 2017, at Comfort House in McAllen.

Mrs. Ramirez was born on Jan. 24, 1932 in Mission to Santos Ortiz and Leonides “Chena” Flores. She grew up in Mission, married Felix Ramirez in 1950 and worked alongside him in his photography business, Felix Studio, in Mission where she painted the portraits. She served as a Cub Scout den mother and Catechism instructor in Alton for over a decade.

Survivors include her children, Felix Ramirez of Mission, Dr. J. Ivan Ramirez of Wimberley, Cesar Ramirez of Chicago, Rosemary Ramirez of Mission and Ruben Martinez; siblings, Josefina Rodriguez of Mission and Tony Ortiz of Olmito; and 13 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

She was proceeded in death by her parents; husband; son, Homer Ramirez; and sister. Maria Socorro Esparza.

A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, May 30, at 1 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Mission. Burial follows at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Mission.
