OBIT – Maria Flores

HOUSTON/MISSION – Maria Eugenia Flores, 88, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 9, 2017, in Houston.

Mrs. Flores was born in May of 1929 in Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico and came to Mission at the age of 16. She met and married Armando Flores and worked together at Armando Flores Grocery in Mission until 1968 when they moved to Houston to manage a coffee shop.

Survivors include her children, Armando Flores Jr., Carlos Flores and Blanca Daugherty; sisters, Herminia de la Garza of California and Estefania Rodriguez of Eagle Pass; and two grandchildren and one great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by her husband; mother, Guadalupe Gil Montalvo Bentancourt; and siblings, Irma Charles, Daniel Gil Sr., Aida Razón and Guadalupe Flores.

A funeral service was held on Sept. 16 at Flores Funeral Home in Mission. A graveside service followed at Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
