OBIT – Margarita Ramirez

MISSION – Margarita Cañas Ramirez passed away on Monday, Oct. 16, 2017 at her home in Mission.

Mrs. Ramirez was born on June 18, 1922, in Fabens.

Survivors include her daughters, Rosa Lilia Ledesma and María Margarita Longoria; sister, Estilita Balli; and five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesús Ramírez; daughter, Linda Ramírez; parents, Gonzalo Nicanor and Guadalupe Cañas; stepmother, Francisca Cañas; siblings, Adelaida, Alfonso Ignacio, Carlos, Fernando, Alfonso Julio, Gloria, Benito and Ramón Cañas; grandson Alejandro Longoria; and great-grandchild, Yasmeen Rashid.

A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 18, at 9:45 a.m. at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Mission. Burial follows at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission.
