MISSION – Juan “John” Ibarra, 70, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 29, 2017, at Mission Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Ibarra was born on April 22, 1947, to Francisco and Francisca Ibarra. He served two tours in Vietnam during the height of the war. He worked 22 years at hospitals in McAllen and 21 years at Mission Regional Medical Center in various departments, with his last years as a nurse in the Intensive Care Unit.
Survivors include his wife, Nellie Ibarra; daughter, Cynthia Solis, Samantha Cuevas and Stephanie Longoria; siblings, Irma Rosa Hernandez and Frank Ibarra; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Sabrina Longoria; and siblings, Cano, David and Julio Ibarra and Rita Guerrero.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 1, from 5 to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. rosary at Ric Brown Family Funeral Home in Mission. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, Nov. 2, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Mission. Burial follows at Jarachinas Ranch Cemetery in La Joya.
