OBIT – Maria Barrera

MISSION – Maria O. Barrera, 91, passed away on Saturday, June 2, 2018, at her home in Mission.

Mrs. Barrera was born in Ciudad Mier, Tamps., Mexico on April 3, 1927, and was a member of the Catholic Church.

Survivors include her children, Manuel Barrera, Rene Barrera, Graciela Barrera and Anna Olivarez; siblings, Julian Salinas, Cooky Alvarado and Janie Saldivar; and six grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Severo Barrera; daughter, Irma Barrera; father, Amado Salinas Garcia; mother, Manuelita Garcia de Salinas; and brother, Heraclio Salinas.

A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, June 6, at 11:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Mission. Burial will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Mission.
