Teen arrested by Weslaco police following terroristic threats

A 13-year-old buy was turned in to Weslaco police this morning following threats he made on his social media involving a local Walmart store.

The teen, who is unidentified as he is a minor, is accused of making violent threats on social media according to a news release by Weslaco PD. The suspect was brought in to the police station by his mother at 8:30 a.m. Thursday.

police lineFollowing the threats made on his social media page, which were widely spread to warn others, the Walmart on 1310 N. Texas Blvd closed last night as a precaution.

“A search was conducted on their residence and vehicles and no firearms were recovered,” the release states. “The 13-year-old juvenile was charged with terroristic threat, a 3rd Degree Felony and will be transported to the Juvenile detention Center.”

The FBI assisted Weslaco PD in the investigation, the release said.

“The Weslaco reminds the public, especially juveniles active on social media, that all threats will be investigated and taken seriously, “the release stated.
