3 more in Hidalgo County test positive for COVID-19

Three more people in Hidalgo County have tested positive for the COVID-19 virus, bringing the total of those infected in the county to five.

Hidalgo County Judge Richard F. Cortez announced this in a Tuesday news release, which also said initial investigation suggests that two of the cases appear to be travel-related and could be related to the first person in Hidalgo County testing positive for this strain of coronavirus over the weekend.

The first case involved a woman in her 20s who traveled to Las Vegas and lives in McAllen. No other details are immediately available about these two cases.

Investigators with the Hidalgo County Health and Human Services Department are in the preliminary stage of investigating the fifth person to test positive for COVID-19 and could only confirm that a fifth case exists. More details was not immidiately avaialble.
