The Sharyland ISD counseling department will continue to provide resources for students, staff, parents while maintaining social distancing.
The district’s counseling department announced the creation of the Mental Health Moment, a video message intended to provide information and common sense stability in the midst of this unstable time.
As part of this message, all campus counselors will be reaching out to their students and parents via Remind, email, and virtually, with positive messages, activities, and videos that are intended to ease feelings of fear.
“We understand that this is, and will continue to be, a difficult time for some more than others. We are here to support our Sharyland ISD community by updating our resource pages to meet their needs,” the release stated.
The district counseling website will include information on Safeschool helpline, the National Suicide Prevention Hotline, as well as contact information for the Hope Family Center’s Warmline.
“In addition, we have added links to calming and grounding techniques that will help those feeling increased levels of stress and anxiety,” the release stated. “We are working towards providing some form of virtual individual counseling using best practices according to guidelines from the American School Counselor Association (ASCA).”
