Hidalgo County health officials reported five more people tested positive for COVID-19, bringing the total in the county to 308.
This marks the second day in a row in which a handful or less have tested positive for this form of coronavirus, according to a news release.
“Hopefully, this trend continues. But I am also hopeful that we will begin seeing a similar drop in the number of people who need hospitalization after testing positive,” Hidalgo County Judge Richard F. Cortez said in the news release.
21 people remain in area hospitals while five of them in intensive care units, according to the release. A total of 3,429 COVID-19 tests have been administered in the county with 3,036 results coming back negative and 85 results pending.
