La Joya ISD to resume curbside meal distribution program

After suspending its meal distribution program earlier this month, the La Joya Independent School District announced Tuesday it will resume its Curbside Free Grab & Go Meal Pick Up Program.

“We are delighted to inform you that effective May 1, 2020 La Joya ISD will re-open its Curbside Free Grab & Go Meal Pick Up Program,” the district said in a news release. “This program will be providing 14 meals (7 Breakfast & 7 Lunches) for the entire week with a two day pick up schedule.”

According to the release, the meal distribution locations are La Joya High School, Juarez Lincoln High School, Palmview High School, Dr. Javier Saenz Middle School, Ann Richards Middle School, Cesar Chavez Middle School, Juan De Dios Salinas Middle School, Jose De Escandon Elementary, Sam Fordyce Elementary and Emiliano Zapata Elementary.

The meal distribution schedule will be Tuesdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. to provide 3 breakfasts and lunch bundles and four breakfasts and lunch bundles, respectively.

If a child isn’t present, parents must provide forms of identification for students such as school ID cards, report cards or birth certificate for children not in school, the release said.
