ArkiiForm, LLC is staying busy throughout the pandemic.
This week, the La Joya Independent School District Board of Trustees met during a regular meeting to discuss several items. One item regarded a roof renovations project for Dr. Americo Paredes Elementary, located at 5301 N. Bentsen Palm Dr. in Mission.
This follows the last regular meeting, where the board approved an architect for a roofing project for Rosendo Benavides Elementary School. On Wednesday this week, they approved a proposal from ArkiiForm, LLC to oversee the Paredes Roof Renovations Project.
Charlie Garcia III, a principal architect for ArkiiForm, is named on all the documents in the proposal from the firm. Garcia, the Board President for the Mission Consolidated Independent School District, is currently contracted by the city of Mission as the architect for roof renovation projects on the Speer Memorial Library and the Mission Historical Museum.
ArkiiForm is part of the district’s pool of architects used for projects. The detailed agenda package stated that the services are “needed to design and develop specifications required for said project.”
According to the agenda package, the cost of the project will be 6 percent of construction costs, and will be sourced from the district’s general fund. In the proposal submitted by ArkiiForm, the project will be conducted in three parts, and total estimated construction cost will be $205,200.
It included photographs of the exterior at Paredes Elementary, which showed signs of damage to the roof and gutter systems. The project will be kept at the re-roofing of certain areas only with membrane and metal detailing.
The proposal specifies that in each of the three scopes of work, they will renovate the existing built-up roof system, install new intersecting metal roof gables and build entry to the wall stormwater drainage system.
The school board approved the recommendation by Jose Villarreal, the Director of Facilities, and Ricardo Villarreal, the Assistant Superintendent for Operations, to contract ArkiiForm, LLC for the project (the recommendation and item on the agenda was also approved by Superintendent Dr. Gisela Saenz). It was passed without discussion.
