One of Mission’s most popular parks will be closed for the next two weeks.
The Bentsen-Rio Grande Valley State Park announced on social media Saturday that the park be close Sunday, July 5 and will reopen Friday, July 17.
“The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department has learned that an individual at Bentsen-Rio Grande Valley State Park is presumed positive for COVID-19,” the post read. “At this time, out of an abundance of caution, the park will close Sunday, July 5 and will reopen for overnight and day use reservations on July 17. Guests with overnight and day-use reservations through July 16 will be notified about refunds and reservation transfer options.”
The Santa Ana National Wildlife Refuge also announced at the beginning of the month they would be closing due to “the steep rise in COVID-19 cases in the county.”
“[Our] hope is that we can get out in front of this pandemic again and can safely open the refuge soon. We apologize for this inconvenience,” the park said in a social media post.
