Forty-nine people die with COVID-19 complications; 339 people test positive

Officials have reported a single-day high record of deaths due to complications related to the coronavirus.

According to a press release from Hidalgo County Health, officials reported 49 deaths due to complications related to the novel coronavirus. Hidalgo County Judge Richard F. Cortez said Tuesday another 339 people tested positive, bringing the total number of positive cases to 13,126.

“My heart is heavy as I send my deepest condolences to the friends and families who lost a loved one to this disease,” Cortez said. “As we move forward each day, I urge you all to take the advice from our medical experts and continue to practice proper hygiene, wear a mask, stay at least 6-feet apart, stop congregating and don’t leave your home unless it’s necessary.”

There are 7,286 net active cases and 207 people were released from isolation on Tuesday meaning that they have been symptom-free for 10 days, including three days without a fever. There are currently 1,080 people hospitalized with complications from the virus; 257 of those cases are being treated in intensive care units.
