19 Hidalgo County residents died Tuesday from COVID-19 complications on the same day another 202 people tested positive for the virus, according to a news release from the county.
The latest case totals bring the count of people in the county who have died from this disease to 1,450 while the total number of known positive cases in the county now stands at 29,721. 2,048 of those cases remain active.
“Each day we continue to lose more of our fellow county residents to this deadly virus. I send my deepest condolences to the families of these victims,” Hidalgo County Judge Richard F. Cortez said in the news release. “I remind you to practice social distancing and the use of facial coverings. COVID-19 can be spread by people who do not have symptoms and do not know that they are infected.”
229 people remain in area hospitals to be treated for COVID-19 complications with 84 of them marked as active.
