October 9

  • “Science Nature Sleuth” will be the featured virtual program by the Edinburg World Birding Center, 714 S. Raul Longoria Rd., at 4 p.m. A Nature Science Sleuth Kit is recommended, but the virtual learning is free. The kit can be picked up at the EWBC Fee Booth beginning Oct. 2 and is $10.99, plus tax. Quantities are limited. The kit is recommended for children ages 6 and up. The program will be delivered via Zoom, and registration is required by Oct. 5. October 10

  • The Edinburg World Birding Center, 714 S. Raul Longoria Rd., will host a virtual program on “Fall Butterflies of the RGV” at 4 p.m. The EWBC interpretive naturalist team will discuss butterflies found in South Texas Gardens, along with tips and techniques to I.D. them and participate in Citizen Science Programs.   • The public is invited to the Drive-in Pesado concert at H-E-B Park beginning at 8:30 p.m. Concert tickets range from $100 to $400 for four passengers per car; extra passengers are $35 each.  It will be set up in the parking H-E-B Park parking lot located at 1616 S.   • A virtual program on “Owl Pellet Dissection” will be featured by the Edinburg World Birding Center at 4 p.m. Kids can learn how owls are adept hunters even in complete darkness, and will investigate what and how owls eat by dissecting an owl pellet. The purchase of an owl pellet kit, for children ages 7 and up, is $3.99 plus tax. The kit can be picked up at the EWBC Fee Booth beginning Oct. 23. Quantities are limited; early reservation is recommended, but is required by Oct. 26. The EWBC is located at 714 S. Raul Longoria Rd. The program will be delivered via Zoom.
