19 more COVID-19 related deaths reported in Hidalgo County
Officials with the Hidalgo County Health and Human Services Department reported 19 more deaths related to COVID-19 and 130 new known positive cases, Hidalgo County Judge Richard F. Cortez said Thursday.
The total amount of known COVID-19 cases in the county now stands at 33,148 with 2,409 of those cases marked as active, according to a news release from the county.
The amount of people who have died from COVID-19 related complications now stands at 1,824.
“These deaths continue to concern me and should concern everyone else in the county,” Judge Cortez said in a statement. “I extend my condolences to the family and friends of those who have died from this terrible disease.”
There are currently 193 COVID-19 patients being treated at area hospitals with 62 of them in intensive care units.
