The Hidalgo County COVID-19 death toll climbed past 1,850 after the Hidalgo County Health and Human Services Department reported 12 more deaths over the weekend and 143 new known positive cases of the virus.
This brings the total amount of recorded deaths related to the outbreak to 1,853 and 33,495 known positive cases. 2.193 of those cases remain active Hidalgo County Judge Richard F. Cortez said in the Monday news release.
“I want to continue to ask for your support to take the precautions necessary to fight this virus,” Judge Cortez said. “Now that some of our children are back to school and activities are increasing with more physical interaction we need to be extremely careful. That’s how we conquer the threat of this disease.”
159 people remain in county hospitals to be treated with COVID-19 related complications with 58 of them being treated in intensive care units.
