Seven more COVID-19 deaths and 172 new COVID-19 positive cases were reported Monday by officials with the Hidalgo County Health and Human Services Department, Hidalgo County Judge Richard F. Cortez said Wednesday.
The result is a total of 1,906 recorded deaths related to the outbreak of this disease and 34,515 known positive cases. 2,473 of those cases remain active, the county said in a news release.
“I offer condolences to the family and friends of those who have died and prayers to those who are ill,” Judge Cortez said in a statement. “We must continue to act with caution.”
Yesterday, the county reported 175 people in area hospitals with COVID-19 related complications with 66 of them being treated in intensive care units. On Wednesday, the county reported slight increases as the number of hospitalized COVID-19 patients rose to 176 with 74 of them being treated in ICUs.
