Hidalgo County reports 7 more COVID-19 deaths
Hidalgo County continues to see a steady rise in the number of COVID-19 cases after reporting Thursday officials with the Hidalgo County Health and Human Services Department reported seven more deaths related to COVID-19 on Wednesday and 177 new known positive cases.
The new numbers bring the total number of COVID-19 related deaths in the county to 1,947 while the total amount of known positive cases of the disease now stands at 35,662. 2,331 of those cases are active.
“The country is seeing record numbers of new cases,” Judge Cortez said. “We must prepare for that by being extra careful among crowds and by wearing facial coverings in public. I extend my condolences to the family and friends of those who died and my prayers to those who are sick.”
182 COVID positive patients remain in area hospitals and 67 of them are being treated in intensive care units.
