Two more COVID-19 cases reported in Hidalgo County

The total amount of COVID-19 related deaths in Hidalgo County reached the 2,050 milestone as two more deaths were reported on Friday, the county announced in a news release.

The new deaths were a Mercedes man and a Mission women, both of whom were over the age of 70.

The county also reported 612 new COVID-19 cases on Friday, bringing the total amount of reported COVID-19 cases in Hidalgo County to 42,844 with 2,324 of those cases marked as active.

According to the news release, there are now 192 county residents in area hospitals being treated for COVID-19 related complications. 77 of them are in intensive care units.
