Zero new COVID-19 deaths reported in Hidalgo County; hospitalizations continue to increase

For the first time in weeks, Hidalgo County is reporting no new COVID-19 related deaths.

On Monday, the county announced that the COVID-19 death toll remains at 2,050, but there was still an increase in the amount of cases and hospitalizations.

The county reported in a Monday news release 176 new cases of the disease, bringing the total amount of overall cases in the county to 43,020. Of those cases, 2,048 of them remain active.

There are currently 204 county residents being treated in area hospitals with COVID-19 related complications with 76 of them placed in intensive care units.

In their previous report made on Friday, the county reported 192 hospitalized COVID-19 patients.
