8 more COVID-19 deaths reported in Hidalgo County

Hidalgo County reported eight more souls lost their lives to the COVID-19 pandemic on the same day the county announced 330 new positive cases of the disease.

In a Wednesday news release, the county reported that the new COVID-19 death toll now stands at 2,110 and a total of 46,449 cases of the disease. 2,517 of those cases remain active, the county stated.

The deaths included five males and three females from the cities of Edinburg, McAllen, Mercedes and Mission whose ages ranged from their 30s to over the age of 70.

219 county residents are being treated in area hospitals for COVID-19 complications with 79 of those patients being treated in intensive care units.
