Mission man pleads guilty to two counts of sexual abuse of a child

A 30-year-old Mission man pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual abuse of a child, Hidalgo County Criminal District Attorney Ricardo Rodriguez, Jr. announced in a Friday news release.

Jose Javier Rodriguez will serve 30 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice – Institutional Division for Sex Abuse of Child Continuous Victim under 14 and Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child six years of age, according to the release. Both counts are first degree felonies that will run concurrently and the defendant will not be eligible for parole.

 “There is nothing more precious than the life of a child,” Rodriguez said in a statement. “Our office will continue to fight for justice and put these sexual predators behind bars.”

Special Crimes Division Chief Hope Palacios prosecuted the assailant in both cases which were investigated by the McAllen and mission police departments  with assistance from Children’s Advocacy Center of Hidalgo County – Estrella’s House.

Rodriguez’s sentence was handed down on Monday by 206th District Court Judge Rose Guerra Reyna.
