The Hidalgo county COVID-19 death toll increased by six Tuesday as the county reported the new amount of deaths and 329 new cases of the contagious disease.
In total, 2,187 people have lost their lives after contracting the virus that has infected 50,361 county residents. Of those cases, 2,158 remain active.
The amount of hospitalized COVID-19 patients also saw a big jump as the county reported on their Tuesday news release a total of 314 residents hospitalized in area hospitals with COVID-19 relayed complications.
On Monday, the county 282 total residents in area hospitals.
Despite the increase in overall hospitalized patients, the amount of those being treated in intensive care units decreased from 109 to 91.
