758 new known cases of COVID-19 and 15 more deaths related to the disease were reported by county health officials Monday.
With the new numbers, the total amount of known COVID-19 cases now stands at 60,971 with 2,068 of the cases still marked as active. Of the new cases, 379 of them were marked as confirmed cases of COVID-19.
The new deaths were made up of eight females and seven males from the cities of Alton, Donna, McAllen, Mercedes, Mission, Pharr, Weslaco and an undisclosed city. Their ages ranged from their 60s to over the age of 70.
According to the county news release, 2,376 county residents have died after contracting the disease.
The amount of county residents in area hospitals due to complications of the disease continues to rise Monday as the county reported 434 hospital beds being taken up by COVID-19 patients. 151 of them are being treated in intensive care units.
