The COVID-19 death toll in Hidalgo County rose by 14 Thursday as county health officials revealed the new COVID-19 daily report.
With the new deaths, split between eight females and six males from the cities of Alamo, Alton, Donna, Edinburg, Hidalgo, McAllen, Mission, Pharr, San Juan and four from an undisclosed location, the county COVID-19 fatality county now stands at 2,418.
The 14 new victims ranged in age from their 30s to over the age of 70.
The county also announced 584 new cases of the disease, 400 of which were confirmed to be COVID-19. The new cases bring the total amount of known COVID-19 cases in the county to 58,274. Of those cases, 2,141 remain active.
The county also reported that 427 residents remain in area hospitals with COVID-19 related complications. 140 of those patients are being treated in intensive care units.
