June 16-17 – The Dustin M. Sekula Memorial Library, in partnership with the South Texas College (STC) Continuing Education Department will host a two-day ‘How to Start a Business’ workshop. The workshop is free of charge and scheduled to meet in-person, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Library’s Empowerment Resource Center. Registration is open and is limited in space. August 28 – The International Museum of Art & Science (IMAS) will host the 42nd Collage Annual Gala at the McAllen Convention Center Ballroom. The IMAS will be honoring the City of McAllen for its steadfast support of the museum and its mission for 54 years. October 22-24 – The RGV Hispanic Chamber of Commerce will host First Annual RGV Jalapeño Amateur Championship. The three-day event will have a practice round on Friday with formal play on Saturday and Sunday. Spots are open for 150 golfers to sign up and participate. Maximum handicap allowed is 24, and the format is two-player team Florida Scramble. The handicap index differential between the two players may not exceed 10. The USGA Handicap System will be used.
