  • The Museum of South Texas History, 200 N. Closner Blvd. in Edinburg, hosts the 19th Annual Día de los Muertos: Recuerdos y Ofrendasevent at 4 p.m. It includes the Community Altar Exhibit, craft activities, food and artisan vendors, mariachi and folklórico performances, and more. Headliners will be Veronique Medrano and the Puro Party Band. Actress and artist Wendy Lara will perform “La Catrina Garbancera” followed by the Piñata People directed by visual artist Josué Ramírez.   • The public is invited to Quinta Mazatlán’s Second Annual Sticks & Bones Trail and Halloween Party in the Parkfrom 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event is included with park admission and offers live music, food and gift vendors and crafts.   • It’s a SPOOKtacular Saturdayfrom 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Halloween Eve at the Edinburg World Birding Center, 714 Raul Longoria Rd. The free event celebrates the spookiest of holidays when visitors can join in family-friendly activities, create Halloween crafts and explore the grounds.   • The South Padre Island Birding, Nature Center & Alligator Sanctuarywill host the HalloWings Monarch Migration Celebrationfrom 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Join in a day learning about the wonders of Monarch migration through butterfly gardening presentations, nature walks, nature crafts, live music, games, and more.   • Edinburg’s Annual 2021 Fire Stoppers Festivalruns from 3 to 11:30 p.m. at H-E-B Park, 1616 S. Raul Longoria Rd. Head out for a family event of live music, carnival rides, food trucks, kid activities and a 5K Run with the Chief to promote fire safety and raise awareness for pancreatic cancer.   • The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Department of Intercollegiate Athletics will host the inaugural UTRGV South Padre Island Battle on the Beach, featuring men’s basketball games between UTRGV and Northern Arizona as well as Texas Tech and Incarnate Word. UTRGV will face Northern Arizona at 2 p.m. Texas Tech plays Incarnate Word at 5 p.m. at the South Padre Island Convention Centre.   • The McAllen Holiday Paradereturns to a live, in-person presentation this year, stepping off at 6 p.m. from the McAllen Veterans Memorial Stadium, 2001 N. Bicentennial Blvd. Coming back are the illuminated, animated floats, giant helium Macy’s-style balloons, marching bands, celebrity appearances and guests hosts, along with fan-favorite vuelta in designated zones on the parade route.Fans can win sweepstakes prizes before and during the parade and participate in the free, family-friendly Christmas in the Park festival and carnival.   • The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced on Tuesday that the women’s basketball team will host the second annual UTRGV South Padre Island Classic, a four-game tournament featuring UTRGV, UTSA, Liberty and Grand Canyon at the South Padre Island Convention Centre.
