The world renowned solo artists have joined for their first tour together.   • The 70th anniversary season of the Valley Symphony Orchestrawill take the stage for the first time in nearly two years at 8 p.m. The season begins with Antonin Dvořák’s Symphony No. 9, led by Maestro Peter Dabrowski at the McAllen Performing Arts Center located at 801 Convention Center Blvd. Ticket prices start at $25.   • A performance of chamber operas and scenes from the UTRGV Opera Workshop will be performed by the UTRGV Opera Theaterin the UTRGV library auditorium, 1201 W. University Dr., Edinburg. Performances begin at 7 p.m. on Nov. 19 and 2 p.m. on Nov. 20. Admission is free.

  • Frontera Festis back on the lawn at the Skaggs House, home of the Frontera Audubon Society. Join in the evening’s festivities on the back lawn at 7 p.m. with music, food, drinks, games, a photo booth, and camaraderie. (Vegan food options will be available.) Two gift bundle prizes will be awarded in a fund-raising drawing – one for the men and one for the women.   • The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Department of Intercollegiate Athletics will host the inaugural UTRGV South Padre Island Battle on the Beach, featuring men’s basketball games between UTRGV and Northern Arizona as well as Texas Tech and Incarnate Word. UTRGV will face Northern Arizona at 2 p.m. Texas Tech plays Incarnate Word at 5 p.m. at the South Padre Island Convention Centre.   • It’s “Home for the Holidays” when the UTRGV vocal and instrumental ensembles kick off the holiday season with a variety of classic and contemporary music and sing-along.   • The McAllen Holiday Paradereturns to a live, in-person presentation this year, stepping off at 6 p.m. from the McAllen Veterans Memorial Stadium, 2001 N. Bicentennial Blvd. Coming back are the illuminated, animated floats, giant helium Macy’s-style balloons, marching bands, celebrity appearances and guests hosts, along with fan-favorite vuelta in designated zones on the parade route.Fans can win sweepstakes prizes before and during the parade and participate in the free, family-friendly Christmas in the Park festival and carnival.   • Maestro Peter Dabrowksi leads the Valley Symphony Orchestraas they continue the VSO’s 70th anniversary season with the annual holiday tradition “A Touch of Frost”and the return of the Symphony Chorale under the direction of Dr. Sean Taylor. As the students learned new instruments, they made contemporary popular music of varied styles. The show features The Minör Revisiöns, a pop/rock band made up of UTRGV music faculty members.   • The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced on Tuesday that the women’s basketball team will host the second annual UTRGV South Padre Island Classic, a four-game tournament featuring UTRGV, UTSA, Liberty and Grand Canyon at the South Padre Island Convention Centre.
