February 26 – The public is invited to volunteer for the annual Spring Hawk Watch at Bentsen-RGV State Park in Mission from March 1 to April 30. There will be a Raptor Identification Workshop on Saturday, Feb. 26, from 1 to 4 p.m. This will be a classroom focus on field identification of birds of prey in flight. February 26 – The International Museum of Art and Science Guild will host their Third Annual 5K Superhero Run/Walk at Fireman’s Park, 201 N. 1st Street, McAllen. Participants can sign up online at endurancesplits.redpodium.com–5K-art-runwalk.  Registration for the 5K Run is $25 and $10 for the One-Mile Fun Run. Participants are invited to dress as their favorite hero. February 26– The final “Love Month” programs at Quinta Mazatlan concludes with “Love Bugs,” at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. Discover what kind of insects, spiders, worms, and can be found during the fun bug scavenger hunt and then make a bug themed valentine. March 1 – The public is invited the next discussion at Speer Memorial Library in Mission on for the book Your Second Life Begins When You Realize You Only Have One. March 1-April 30– Join Bentsen-Rio Grande Valley State Park naturalists and volunteers from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Hawk Tower to observe, count, and discuss the thousands of raptors that migrate through the park. March 2– The next IMAS Museum from Home workshop studies hydroponics. Youth participate through a live Zoom webinar hosted by an IMAS educator to lead them through a hands-on lesson. Supplies are included in an activity kit to be picked up via curbside on the Saturday prior to the workshop. Cost is $6 for IMAS members and $12 for others. March 5 – The Keep McAllen Beautiful organization invites the public to the 11th Annual Arbor Day Celebration at the McAllen Municipal Park, 1921 N. Bicentennial Blvd., from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. It includes a timed 5K or 10K run, a kid’s 2K run and a 25-mile bike tour, plus, there is a virtual option available for a 100-mile, 100K and Family Social Ride. March 25-27– TheMission High School Class of 1970 will hold their 50-year reunion with a mixer at the Whistling Duck in Mission on Friday, a semi-formal evening dinner and dance on Saturday at the Mission Event Center, and a farewell breakfast on Sunday (location to be announced).
