April 8-30– Join Bentsen-Rio Grande Valley State Park naturalists and volunteers from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Hawk Tower to observe, count, and discuss the thousands of raptors that migrate through the park. Meet at the tram turnaround at park headquarters. Included in the park admission, reservations are required. Call ahead to confirm the program schedule details at 956-584-9156. Bentsen-Rio Grande Valley State Park is located at 2800 S. Bentsen Palm Dr. in Mission.

April 9 – The Keep McAllen Beautiful annual Great American Clean-Up and Don’t Mess with Texas Trash-Off runs from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., starting from McAllen Municipal Park, 1921 N. Bicentennial Boulevard. Volunteers will be issued safety vests, gloves, and trash bags and then assigned a designated area to pick up litter.  After the cleanup they will return to the park and receive a free T-shirt, hot dogs, soda, and drawing prizes. April 9 –The Texas General Land Office (GLO) invites the public to participate in the Adopt-A-Beach 2022 Coastwide Spring Cleanup from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Volunteers will help clean 23 locations along Texas beaches. This is a rain or shine event. For updates, to sign up and for more information, visit texasadoptabeach.org.

April 30 – The RGV Aggie Moms Chapter will host the12th Man Scholarship Golf tournament at Los Lagos Golf Course in Edinburg. Entry fee for a three-man team is $500 with proceeds benefitting scholarships for local kids attending Texas A&M.  The event includes breakfast, snacks, gift bags with shirts and lunch. Team prizes to be awarded are $900, first place; $600, second; and $300, third, plus, Hole-in-One awards, and contests for longest putt and drive closest to the line, along with door prizes. May 4– The next IMAS Museum from Home workshop studies the art of basketry. Youth participate through a live Zoom webinar hosted by an IMAS educator to lead them through a hands-on lesson. Supplies are included in an activity kit to be picked up via curbside on the Saturday prior to the workshop. Cost is $6 for IMAS members and $12 for others. Sessions are at 2 p.m. for 3rd through 5th grades and 3:30 p.m. for 6th through 12th. For more information, call 956-681-2800.  IMAS is at 1900 Nolana Ave., McAllen.
